Glasgow Wandering

A few days to look and discover... the largest ball of yarn,
A well kept secret, up the stairs,
Krispy Kreme at the station...
And mixture of architecture, all in Glasgow!

No Nessie Necessary

So many knitters... Inverness hosted its first festival and of course, some had to knit a Nessie!  And yarn bomb a car!  There's even a knitted driver inside the car, but the bag piper is for real.  You can just see him on the other side of the car, though he was easily heard!
Then there was the knitters' cruise on Loch Ness.   SIGH! 🤗

Seascape and wool

Our last day in Shetland, a drive to the coastal airport and a visit to Jamieson & Smith.
An exhibit of wool qualities that we stumbled upon at the last minute.
Pouring rain, Pattie waits in the car while I take a look in the wool barn.  Jan, the wool sorter gives me the tour and after 20 minutes I dash out to grab Pattie!
It's an unassuming building next to an unassuming shop, on a remote side street, in a picturesque village on a wind swept island in the North Sea.  Jan is passionate about wool and the industry she represents.
Wind sock...normal hurricane force winds, waiting for a plane to land.  Yes, it's a crossing barrier!
The southern tip of the main island, and
Views from the airplane.

Buttons, A Collection

Just when I thought I should be stash-busting, I discovered I'm a hoarder and collector of buttons!
Somehow, it seemed reasonable to buy, and make buttons when I feel I have enough yarn....
An experiment with enamel (above) and polishing silver (below)... all produced in Shetland in September!
And who can resist knit stitches on buttons?
